About Mussoorie
Mussoorie is one of the most beautiful hill stations not only in Uttarakhand, but the whole of India. It is named after Mansoor, a shrub which is indigenous to this area. Popularly known as the 'Queen of hills' in India, the place seems like a 'virtual paradise' on earth. Lush green forests and lofty mountains adorn the scenic town. Mussoorie was discovered in 1827, by Captain Young, an adventurous British military officer, along with Mr. Shore, the resident Superintendent of Revenues at Dehradun. By Rail
The nearest railway station is in Dehradun, 34 kms. from Mussoorie. It is the terminus of the Northern Railway and is connected to all the major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Howrah, Lucknow, Varanasi, Amritsar, Saharanpur, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Allahabad, Ujjain, Indore, Kathgodam, Okha, etc.
By Road
Mussoorie is well connected by road to all the major cities. Direct buses from Mussoorie are available for places like Barkot(89kms.), Dehradun(35kms.), New Delhi(290kms.), Hanuman Chatti(129kms.), Nainital(355kms.), Saharanpur(110kms.), Srinagar Garhwal(135kms.), etc. The Uttarakhand State Transport Corporation (UASRTC) run ordinary, deluxe, express and super fast buses regularly.
